Individual knowledge and agency
This petal represents the foundation of reproductive autonomy: ensuring that all people have access to clear, accurate, and evidence-based information about their reproductive health—particularly regarding contraception and safe abortion. It is rooted in the belief that knowledge is power. By equipping individuals with the information, resources, and opportunities to understand their options, this component empowers them to make informed, confident, and autonomous decisions, free from stigma, misinformation, or coercion. In 2024:

1. We carried out the campaign "I don't know whether to have an abortion or not" in alliance with the agency Sarape Group. For this campaign we had the collaboration of co-host organizations and organizations from 13 countries in the region that supported the dissemination. It was the longest livestream on safe abortion in history.
2. We updated our "Safe abortion with misoprostol" video to incorporate the latest clinical updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) published in 2022. In this way, we ensure that those who need information on self-managed abortion have accurate and up-to-date data. The video, available on our YouTube channel, has reached more than 156,804 views in 20 countries in the region.

3. In Mexico, we developed 2 new minisites on safe and legal abortion in the states of Baja California Sur and Guerrero and continue to disseminate the sites in Baja California, Colima, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Tlaxcala and Veracruz. These platforms offer updated information on current legislation in each state, as well as details on how to access safe abortion as a health service. Thanks to these efforts, we achieved a combined total of 38,606 visits.
4. We launched our TikTok channel, a new way to connect directly with thousands of people, especially young people, interested in reproductive rights issues. This initiative has a key impact: we harness the power of social media to provide clear and accessible information about safe abortion, debunk myths, answer common questions and share the latest updates on reproductive rights. Since its launch, we reached 356,988 views, demonstrating the enormous potential of this platform to expand access to information, empower people and
foster a change in the way abortion is discussed in Latin America and the Caribbean. An innovative way to reach these audiences!

5. Our social networks continued to be a key tool for disseminating information on safe abortion and contraception in the region. Through Ipas Mexico's YouTube channel, we registered 1,363,154 views, while on Facebook we achieved an impact of 2,145,997 on the Ipas Mexico account and 457,485 on the Ipas LAC account. On Instagram, we reached 276 729 people, and on X (formerly Twitter), as of January 20, 2025, Ipas LAC stopped participating in X. This decision reflects our commitment to social justice, democracy, human rights and access to unbiased information about sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion, as well as the right to live free of bigotry, racism and misogyny. Our Ipas Mexico and Ipas LAC accounts achieved a combined total of 309,464 impressions; on LinkedIn we reached 78,286 hits.
As part of our commitment to access evidence-based information, we responded to 891 inquiries about abortion and contraception through direct messages on our platforms.
