In order for local health systems to offer safe abortion and contraceptive services, it is also necessary for them to have the necessary supplies, medicines and technology, which requires a distribution chain to ensure that supplies are available in the right place, in the right quantity and in the right condition. Therefore, this year:
Strengthening
We continue to strengthen abortion services in the public health system in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador and Mexico by donating abortion drugs, contraceptive supplies, instruments and training models that enable sustainable safe abortion and contraceptive services.
Argentina
We collaborated with the School of Pharmacy of the University of La Plata, the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Concept Foundation in the development of the tests necessary for the local production of mifepristone.
Ecuador
We collaborated with the Ministry of Health to include mifepristone in the list of essential medicines in Ecuador. Ipas LAC contributed by providing updated scientific evidence demonstrating the efficacy of the drug. This process was also supported by other regional partners: Clacai and ForoLAC.
